Hey everyone! Its upgrade time (or soon anyway, within a few months) and I would like to show everyone my current build and my upgrade plans in case I mess anything up or there's a better opportunity I'm missing somebody can correct me. I also want to note I do have 2 separate posts already up about my PSU and what card to pick, I'll probably stop using those 2 posts and blend it all together here. Another note, I will be using this rig for GAMING and STREAMING, as well as editing.

Current build

i5 6500 not overclocked

H110M-A

R7 370 4G PC by sapphire

8G DDR4

Corsair 200R

2 case fans el cheapo's

Seasonic II 520w

Upgrades

Wanting to get an i7, the highest rated one on PCPP is the 6700k, I am not sure which I want, I do want one with 4GHz base, quad core, and unlocked so I can overclock if I want too (I have a few questions to ask about that later)

Keeping the MOBO

Wanting to get a new GPU, I had a post on this as I said and I asked a bit, most people said either the 480 or 1060 would be best because I said I wanted to dominate 1080P gaming on max or close to max settings at MINIMUM 60 fps. I don't expect to be able to max every single game, that is fine, I know I would need a 1070 or 1080 for that. Speaking of which I am debating a 1070 I am not sure yet.

Adding a second stick of 8G DDR4 (Mobo supports two so this will dual channel 16G)

Keeping the case, might add a few more fans.

And the PSU I was thinking about getting another one, a lot of people said a 520W will be plenty for the build but I want to be sure I will have PLENTY of power with extra head room so there is NO efficiency problems.

Those overclocking questions I mentioned earlier > Does room temp effect overclocking? Will an 80 degree F interior house effect my pc? That is speaking of course that I already have proper cooling IN the system.

Question 2 : What would be a good cooler to use if I wanted to overclock? I'm not even 100% sure I want or need to TBH I only stream in 720P 60 frames however with this new build I might bump it up to 1080P, my editing is nothing intense either so I won't really need to overclock I don't think, but even if I don't, I still want to provide good cooling to my i7 so it has proper thermals and efficiency and all that.PS : No water cooling, I am far too not ready for that and wont need it.

Fan questions : Whats a good cheap but reliable case fan? Please link with your answer, also what's a good fan setup? My 200R has 1 intake, 1 back exhaust, 2 side slots, and 2 top slots. I was thinking about getting 4 more, having 2 intake on the side and 2 exhaust on the top (since heat rises anyway) and thats not counting if I get one of those fancy radiator fans for my i7 or not, if I do then just 2 fans for the side. Also how would I power more fans? I already am using a splitter just to power the 2 I have now, would I need molex cables?

PS : My monitors are both the G227 HQl from acer, 60HZ so idk if that will help you answer anything about my GPU but basically I won't be 1440P gaming or higher, the monitors do support 1440P but I'm happy with 1080. However I MIGHT if I have the money, be getting a better monitor, maybe a 144HZ one, or possibly an ultra wide one.

Sorry this was so long! I hope you didn't get a headache reading it all lol, any help is appreciated! :)

Edit : Forgot storage. Adding an SSD and another 1TB HDD.

If you are keeping the mobo you can't overclock a 6700k.

Thanks for letting me know that, I didn't know a MOBO effected that. I probably won't overclock just because I don't think I'll need to TBH. I think a 6700K at stock will handle streaming and gaming at the same time flawlessly.

Then you could just take the 6700 (non K). You can't overclock it but it boosts to 4GHz too.

Is there any i7s with stock 4GHz that boost above 4.2? I noticed the 6700K does go to 4.2. I think I'd be willing to pay the extra 30$ for the little boost, and then if I do ever decide to overclock I can, as long as I replace my MOBO.

Well it will work in your mobo (the 6700k) and you can upgrade your mobo later if you need to overclock. A GTX 1060 would be a nice card if you can't afford anything higher.

I'm not 100% sure what to do, my total budget will be 2000$ but I also want to get some other stuff with that including a better desk, chair, keyboard, maybe monitor (probably not i pretty happy with mine RN) and I want to get an elgato pro. I might just go for the better mobo... which one would you suggest if I did?

z170 is the chipset that allows overclocking. the asus z170-A is a really good motherboard for a really reasonable price.

Would it matter which one I chose? I kind liked the red of the M5. Here's the link to the upgrades, really frickin' pricey. Seriously debating on the SSD, idk if the loading speed will be worth it, I have lived with HDDs all my life with no problem waiting for stuff to load so I may just deal with HDDs. As far as the PSU goes will 600 watts be better then 520? Or should I go for 700?

the m5 is very similar to the asus one so its preference at that point. they are both good motherboards. as fr the psu it really depends on the power supply. wattage doesnt equait to the quality of the psu so a good 600 watt could be vastly more stable than a cheap 520 watt with cheap compacitors. so it really depends on the quality of your current psu

Your 520w is enough to feed a 6700k and a 1060. It's really a preference i recommended the Asus one because i like the bios on it.

Its " enough " on paper but what about in actuality? I do not want to have ANY problems at all I don't even want a 1% chance of not having enough juice. I'm all for keeping my current one, I've had no faults with it, I just want to make sure it can handle it all. And what about if I DO decide to OC, then I would need a new one yea?

The 520w is enough your pc would be pulling like 480w if it would be overclocked to like 4.5Ghz.
