Hi,  my GPU is gtx 760 (2GB edition) and I have a lot of fps drops on gta v. It's taking all of the Video RAM on the card, and gets my pc to 80-90% RAM usage. I cant afford a new GPU but I wonder if I buy more 8GB ram, will it help? Or is it possible to dedicate regular RAM to Video RAM?

(I'm new and I also don't know much about computer hardware so dont lynch me please :D)

Nope, not possible. The only way to upgrade your VRAM is to buy a new GPU.

No you can't. VRAM is much faster than 'regular' RAM. It's also just different, GDDR5 vs. DDR3 (or 4). Also, the RAM usage is that your system RAM or VRAM usage?

(also, posting this once in one sub forum would have been fine..)

No there used to be one for normal GPUs too. Like back when I had 1 Gb videos cards and loads of ram, the system properties would say total vram of over 3 Gb with some shared. But shared ram is slower ofc.

Linus is my fetish.

90% system RAM usage is really not weird. Software is just kind of made to use as much RAM as their is, so having your RAM usage at 90% really doesn't hinder anything. Once system RAM usage goes over 97% or so, you will notice slowdown. This is getting to the point where one might say they don't have enough system RAM for that they are doing, as in their workflow needs more RAM.

Well thats not a thing anymore. iGPU will reserve system memory for its vram use but thats about it.
