The more and more I look into this rabbit hole, the more and more I become confused. How? Who is this? How? What???

I was reading the book thing, the decrypted parts.

The whole mystery is so.... Mysterious.

It is so confusing, a mystery that can't be solved.

Thoughts?

If you don't understand me, that's fine, my post doesn't make much sence, I'm pretty mind blown/ confused.

I remember that one time when 'they' came on this forum with some thing and you made a Google docs to try to collectively solve it and people would just spam in that document with shit :P

Either way, my opinion on the subject is that it seems really cool, but I don't know whether to believe it or not. It seems like a cool story, them trying to get the most intelligent people around the world.. But it all seems too shady and creepypasta like to believe.

But there were actual things all around the world that people found. So there had to be a lot of work to make it. It wasn't just somone playing around. And they have a entire encrypted book. There is so much for it to not be pretty serious.

I don't have an explanation for the encrypted book, but the spraypainted little encrypted things all around the world can be easily explained: an internet friend circle decided it would be fun and like this were able to have those things all around the world. Maybe people liked the whole thing and decided to also spraypaint these things where they live.

But all the problems were so complex, so difficult to solve. It just seems like it had to be real....

I'm still fairly certain it's just an elaborate internet hoax.

The internet connects people all around the world, so creating a global network is not really a problem.

And while the riddles do seem cryptic, they aren't really if you look at it from a creators point of view.

The hard part is always figuring out how the riddle was made. Once that's done it's quite easy to solve them.

My dad told me about a similar "secret" society that existed online back in the early-mid '90s.

It was basically IT professionals, doctors, military personal end the like that meet up online and shared jokes, riddles, porn, music and pictures.

A lot of the stuff you see on the deep (or dark) web these days allegedly came from that network.

Of course, most of the material was heavily encrypted, so if an "outsider" came across the data it would look very mysterious.

The beings within Cicada 3301 are more evolved than normal humans. They have surpassed a lot of our intellectual limits and carnal desires for the most part, and seem to be much less “animal-like” compared to us… if that makes sense.

I wonder why they insist on searching here for those sorts of traits though. As an above-average human myself I can understand enough to grasp their aims… but I’ve yet to meet a human that fit their bill tbh. :P

Um..... Ok.......

Sure, I guess it could be... It just seems to be more advanced than the standard internet hoax. Whoever did it has to be pretty smart.

I would like to think it's real.....

There are lots of smart people in the world.

But as I said, the riddles Cicada 3301 have made appears to be much smarter than they are.

Creating riddles is much easier than it is to solve them.

You could probably create similar riddles by reading a book on code breaking and a book on programming.

The main difference between you and a CIA codebreaker is education.

Why would it being an elaborate internet treasure hunt make it less real?

I would be much more exciting to realize that everyone can make and play an intellectual game, rather than it being a plot made by an intelligence service.

Books are a waste of resources in the context of the digital. Just the very notion is paradoxical by nature... Highly fluid and evolving information recorded in a static medium - ridiculous. Just like this topic.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.
