What would you reccomend? ROG SWIFT vs ACER

Inrix

The Asus is 300-400$ more expensive (nzd), is there any reason to get it over the acer? Is their even any major difference between the two anyway apart from the higher refresh on the asus?

And also which one would you recommend going with for gaming and movie watching and why?

Spec for spec, there isn't a whole lot of difference. What you're gonna find is a lot of anecdotal evidence towards one brand or the other. My thought? Get the one with the best warranty.

Both are pretty much the same monitor. I'd get whichever one is cheapest, or one with the longest warranty if they are different.

I would shell out the extra cash for the Asus. I have had 3/3 Acer monitors fail on me (0/2 on the ASUS side) and that Acer looks ugly as hell. You would also benefit with the extra refresh rate when playing eSports games (CSGO and such).

The difference between 144Hz and 165Hz would be marginal at best. 60Hz to 144Hz, yeah that's a big difference but between 144Hz and 165Hz? Not sure the extra price would be justified. But a tip of the hat to your point about Acer, I to haven't had the best of luck with their products either and all of my Asus products have been stellar in terms of quality. But give this thread enough time and we'll find the role reversed in favor of Acer ;)

both asus and acer can run on 165hz. acer has done a way better job on installing the panel into the frame, less likely to bleed. i got the asus first (fanboy) only to return it a few days later because of the blb. got the acer, it was flawless.

Regardless of who had the most negative experience with what, both companies have some questionable quality control with their high end monitors. I personally had problems with an Acer monitor I bought. The IPS 144hz 1440p gsync model. Horrible backlight bleed and couldn't get over the intense IPS glow.

Get whichever you want and if you are dissatisfied with it you can RMA it.
