New to Intel CPU's and I need help

So I just upgraded from an AMD FX-6300 and was using an H80i V2 to keep it cool, the highest temperatures ever reached were about 52C at 4.5 GHz and +.200 volts. But now I've moved in to an i7 6700k on a Gigabyte Z170X-G1 gaming 5 board, and I have not been able to keep the temps anywhere under 90C running almost any 3D application and have had to drop the max processer state to 80% to keep it at about 70C, I've tried reseating the mount on the standoffs and have had mild success to where everything is secure, but temps won't come down. Used arctic silver 5 for thermal paste all in a Corsair Spec-02, G1 gaming 1070, and Ripjaw V running at 3200. Any advice or something I'm missing?

Did you try totally re-mounting it and re-applying thermal paste? It's weird, the 6700k definitely should run cooler than the 6300, and a LOT cooler than how its currently running.

It kept the furnace of an AMD CPU cool I just thought it would keep this CPU about as cool especially at stock

It should do, but it sounds like something could have gone wrong when you switched. Have you got it plugged into the correct headers?

Have you tried putting the cooler back on the AMD system to test it. It may have become faulty in the move.

I have not tried remounting the AMD board and stuff,  but I believe it only needs to be plugged into the CPU fan header, unless this board wants it to be plugged into the CPU opt header (checking motherboard manual to confirm)

Are you using corsair link program with the USB cable plugged into the pump and also USB header on your motherboard?

make sure it vibrates, produces minimal noise and is moving the liquid around

Alright, I'll switch headers that it's plugged into (the pump) and see if that changes anything but I'll keep an eye on this with mobile just in case.

It could be a mounting issue I think did you follow the instructions provided properly as AMD and Intel both require different mounting procedures maybe you could of missed something out

Alright, I switched to the CPU opt, which completely borked corsair link however, temperatures are down about 10C degrees idle (From 45 to 35) and ran P95 for a minute to see how it performed and the package maxed out at 72 C, however I haven't turned the power setting for the CPU back up to 100% yet

 

 

This is in a room that is 24 C currently just in case that information might be relative

I'm sure you did,  but did you also plug the pump to the PSU (SATA connector)?

Oh you are getting high temps with p95 that's normal since prime95 just smashes your CPU with heat I avoid p95 for this reason put it CPU back to 100% and run aida64 instead of p95 and see how temps vary

Well again, this is at 80% power, even GTA 5 was hitting 70C at this Power limit

Yes it has a data connector for power or should have

Yes,  at least my H80i draws it's power from there.  The pwm connector only has 1 wire (fan/pump speed to prevent mobo error messages),  and the USB header is for speed control through software,  not power.
