Is the new Titan XP able to lockdown 144FPS on 1440P? I have seen some early reviews but they are more focused on the 4K. I currently have an Asus ROG STRIX GTX 1070 OC 8GB but it doesn't even secure 144FPS on 1080p and I'm thinking of upgrading to 2K with an Acer predator XB271HU and my card will not suffice.

CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K  MOBO: ROG MAXIMUS XII FORMULA GPU: 2080ti Hall of Fame 10th anniversary limited edition  PSU: Asus ROG THOR 1200W  COOLER: Optimus foundation black acetal RADS: 3x EKWB CoolStream PE 360  LOOP: EKWB torque HDC fittings / EKWB ZMT 15,9/9,5mm / EKWB CryoFuel Clear MONITOR: Acer predator X34

If a 1070 cant reach 144fps on 1080p, then a titan xp wont be able to reach 144fps on 1440p.
I would rather save money and stick with 1070+1440p monitor (you will be able to go above 60fps which is bareable), and wait until Vega or gtx 1080 ti. But if you have lots of money to spend then yeah sure get a titan XP

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

you will get better performance out of SLI 1080's and the cost would be pretty close to a single Titan XP.

SLI has it's own problems though, ofcourse..

Well I'm from Canada, so the situation is rather different than in the US. It goes something like this:

-GTX 1070 = 610$

-GTX 1070 SLI = 1260$

-GTX 1080 = 1000$

-GTX 1080 SLI = 2000$

-GTX Titan XP = 1570$

better to get 2 1080s over a titan xp. Sli has issues, but more often that not, it will have good scaling (based on my experience with sli 760s).

1080 SLI is actually 500$ more expensive than titan xp in Canada so I don't know if the 500$ extra is worth it.

I say if you already own a 10 series card or a 980Ti/Titan X, don't bother. If you owned a 980 or below then it would be a different story

There are some at 900 but its the rather low end ones, for the best aftermarket ones you need to pull out 1000-1050$

Lmao, I feel you. Lowest end 1080 here in Norway is 1150 CAD...

If you are hard pressed on getting 144fps  at 1440p all the time, then the titan xp is likely the only choice right now. You could just tweak some settings like aa to get closer to 144 fps on your current card, but thats because I dont like upgrading gpus very often...

The only thing that bothers me with the new titan XP is heat. It apparently runs hot especially if you overclock it since the stock coolers are shit and my PC is pure airflow cooling.

Yeah, the clocks fluctuate pretty heavily even at stock settings if you dont ramp up the fan curve. It is the same cooler as the 1080 on a gpu that outputs much more heat, so it was to be expected. Unless you wave the money for a custom water loop, you are stuck with the stock cooler, because there wont be any partner cards. Also if a 1080ti were to come out, it would be after amd released something in the high end, which likely wont be till vega which is a long way away...

People need to stop rushing on newer cards the day they come out... Stocks will come and prices will drop with a bit of patience, don't encourage the overpricing madness that's currently going on. You have a 1070 man, and you already want to "upgrade" ?? Nvidia must be so happy seeing all those people rushing on 70 and 80s cards when they come out, and then rushing back again 2 months later because they want the new Titan card... It's even worse than Apple madness. Keep your 1070 and be happy with it for a while dammit !

I understand your point with the ''I need the best card out there ASAP kind of guy'', but that's not my case. I'm currently on a 1650x1080 old dell monitor and I want to upgrade to 1440p. A single GTX 1070 isn't enough for 100FPS+ 1440p which is why this topic is there for.

Well, your mistake was to buy a 1070 knowing you'll upgrade to 1440p 144Hz then :D But I think a 1070 is able to push around 100fps in most games nowadays, and if it can't on the most demanding titles, it's not absolutely horrible to go from ultra to high and turn off all the Gimpworks features. Really depends on what you play, but you should try your 1070 with a new monitor before jumping on the Titan XP scam wagon

I didn't want to go for 1440p at first, was aiming for 144hz 1080p when I got the 1070 but the 1440p seems like such an improvement that I now aim for that and the 1070 sadly doesn't deliver enough on 2K, atleast on a single card.
