Soundcard on Rampage V E10 Amp

Hi, I was thinking of putting an Asus Essence STX II 7.1 on my Rampage V Edition 10. Will the sound card be able to connect to the amp?

This makes no sense.

1. What do you Need the STX for?
2. What headphones do you have?

3. The integraded Sound chip will be okay in 9/10 cases.

If you're asking whether or not you'll be able to output from the STX through your onboard, then no.

The STX II has it's own amp though, so it isn't a problem.

So essentially if I get the essence stx the amp that came with the mb is wasted? I'm using a Sony MDR 1A but I'd like the 7.1 channel on the sound card.

The card has it's own outputs so no. 

 

Also the STX is IMO a overpriced paper weight.  Something like a E10K or D1 are going to give you a better experience for less. For about the same price you can get a Schiit stack or a O2+ODAC.

Your board has 7.1 aswell.

The board outputs 7.1 through just the back audio port or the amp as well?

i think there is a general missconception here

The back Audio ports are powered BY the onboard AMP and the onboard DAC aswell.

A Soundcard would REPLACE both of These onboard Chips (DAC + AMP)

Probably didn't phrase it well. From what I understand from the above posts, the board has 7.1 channel onboard. So I am asking if the board will output 7.1 channel through the back audio ports AND the 5.25 bay amp? Hence if I connect a headset to the 5.25 amp I will receive 7.1 sound through the headset?

You are still on the wrong track. 

 

7.1 is NOT a thing with headphones. 

7.1 means 7 speakers and one Subwover. 

 

Some headsets are advertised with it but that's just simulated 7.1 which can be achieved via software and you don't need a 7.1 sound card for it. 

 

So in your case, don't get the sound card if it's just for headphones.

Ah alright I understand. So I don't need the sound card for 7.1 channel. Just got one more clarification. Will the onboard soundcard and 5.25 amp provide a sound quality as good as a soundcard like the creative Zx or Essence STX?

Yeah both will be sufficient. 

May I ask what headphones you wanna drive with it?
