Intels overclocker protection plan

So I think I'm going to get a overclocking protection plan from Intel. The problem is, I bought my cpu in November 2014. Can I still get it even though my cpu is almost 2 years old?

Are you actually going to do extreme OCing that could break your chip?

Your probably not gonna break your chip. You are going to waste money on this warranty, they make money off it.

You've got one year from the date of purchase to buy the plan.

You're fine with just the standard 3 year warranty.  Intel is fantastic and covering CPUs under the standard warranty.

Do you have some experience with that?

If you OC your CPU too much and it starts degrading or completely die, they will know that you were OCing.

Just not sure if they would want to RMA it.

I've never RMA'd myself, but search around a bit and I think you'll see that Intel does a great job of working with folks on RMAs.  They have no way of knowing with any certainty whether a chip has been OC'd.

I'm pretty sure that they know if CPU was overclocked, but they might not be able to prove it or something.

I can only hope that I won't have any problems with it either xD

They don't know at all.  They don't even know if you have delided it.

Are you serious?

How can they not see if you delided CPU? It will have other thermal compund in it, and you can't glue it back exactly the way it was done before.

Of course you can.  You just use black gasket stuff.  I have a tube of it at home. Even if they could tell it cost more for them to inspect and test it then it does to just send you a new one.  I know someone who has successfully rma'ed a 4 year old,  second hand,  delided 3770k that died under dice cooling.

4 years? Isn't warranty for 3 years only?

And Intel might not bother with that, but in my local store they would decline it. You buy new PC here, and if you take front panel off, warranty is voided and it doesn't matter what happens to your PC, they won't take it under warranty. They put warranty sticker on everything lol

So I would have to send CPU directly to Intel .... and that's probbably not so cheap.

Yes. Intel pay for a shipping label as well.

So that works also in Europe from any country?

I send my CPU back and send them bill for shiping cost?

No.  They send you a prepaid label to print off then you choose a date and time for them to collect it.

Oh okay.

It's good to hear that they are flexible about that.

But I stil won't delide my CPU ... I do have kinda bad temps with it, but deliding it just scares me. There are a lot of people who tried to do that, and end up destroying CPU.

I don't realy want to destroy my 350€ worth CPU xD
