I'm going to come off like a dick in this post, so I apologize in advance.

We do not offer private tours or meetings for two main reasons.

1. We are a business, and we are extremely busy. If Linus or Luke or whoever else got pulled away from whatever they were doing 1-2 times per day for 10-15 minute meetings with viewers/fans/etc., this would significantly impact their workflow, and limit the time that they can spend creating awesome content for your consumption. 10-15 minutes doesn't seem like much, but the impact is far larger than that due to the time it takes around that (including getting back into the "flow" after the meeting) - 2 15+ minute distractions a day probably equates to 1-2 hours of "non-optimal" productivity in many cases. Yes, the viewers are the reason why we have a business, and we are extremely thankful for that. But this is a "good of the many over the good of the few" situation (if that's even how that saying goes) - the more time we spend with individuals, the less time we have to create content for mass consumption.

2. There are significant security and privacy concerns when bringing people into the office. The main concern there is with products that are under NDA. Let's say Colton answers the door and lets someone in for a tour (****in' Colton...). He brings them through the benching office to meet with Luke and Jon, where they're benchmarking an NDA'd graphics card. The person touring the office sneaks a picture of the bench results and tweets that out. This would put us in DEEP $H!T with the brand (in some cases there is the possibility of SIGNIFICANT financial repercussions for breaking an NDA) as we generally have a contractual obligation to maintain the privacy of that information until a given date and time. Of course, many people wouldn't do that as they have a lot of respect for what we do and wouldn't want to put us in that situation, but the possibility is certainly there.

It sucks to turn people away. I'm sure if you talk to people who have come by to ask for a tour and been turned away, they'd say we were rude and didn't care, were assholes, whatever else... But trust me, it really sucks and I wish the situation would allow for it.

This is super unconfirmed at this point, but we have discussed doing another meetup. If we do, the forum & WAN Show will be the first two places to find out. Otherwise, I'm sorry to say that we can't offer tours/meetings :(

I agree with your post. It might sound rude, but frankly, I'm astonished that anyone thinks it's okay to drop by unannounced to the place of employment of a pseudo celebrity that you don't personally know.

That would be like me dropping by Matt Damon's office, asking for a tour of his collection of Awards (Only one Oscar! Tough break!)

The team are busy. They will organize a public event when they have time for it.

The rule of thumb is, unless the place they work is a public facing business that wants people to come in (Eg: A restaurant, retail, a Library, etc), you shouldn't show up unannounced, and definitely not without permission.

Do people do that? Turn up to the office uninvited?

Well the OP wanted to do just that.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it's happened a dozen or or more times with the current LMG office being relatively accessible, compared to the old offices in a "house" or the garage of Linus' personal house.

It has definitely happened. Feels bad to turn them away but we don't really have a choice most of the time...

Oh wow, I didn't know people have actually done this. It just seems such a strange thing to do, coming to your place of work, uninvited, to meet someone you don't know personally who doesn't know you...

I completely understand what you're saying. LTT is so easy to get in touch with, people might feel closer to LMG then they actually are.

This conversation is a prime example of this. Look how easy it is for anyone to speak directly with a member of LMG :P

@nickmlg Thanks for the clarification :) I understand completely. That's the reason why I asked, I prefer NOT to turn up to the office, but rather ask here and find out if i am allowed to, ect. But thank you anyways, still kinda happy was able to speak to one of my fav guys from ChannelSuperFun xD
