Hello people:)

I am thinking of getting a new GPU into my computer and i am bit stuck with 3 GPU i can choose..

I currently have a MSI GTX 760 4gb Gaming OC edition (OCed myself even further) in my system.

Now i was wondering what i the best GPU i should buy for what i am planning on playing: BF4.BF1,Arma and that are mostly the tough games i play on my system.

I got the option to get a : RX 480, GTX 1060 or GTX 980 i'll be gaming on a single 1920x1080 60Hz 1ms AOC monitor of 23,6 inch. Got same AOC as second monitor but this one isnt connected to my GPU but to my motherboard.

RX 480 = Sapphire Radeon RX 480 NITRO+ 4G for about 260 Euro / 290 USD

GTX 1060 = Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6G  for about 315 Euro / 350 USD

GTX 980  =  MSI GeForce GTX 980 GAMING 4G   for  about 300 euro / 335 USD

I will most likely be remain gaming on 1080p 60Hz for the upcomming few years.

Other computer specifications:

I7 4790K OCed to 4,5Ghz

16GB DDR3 Ram at 1600Mhz

2x  250GB ssd

1x 2TB HDD

450W Power supply

Thx for replying!!:)

I'd get a new PSU first. What's the current one you're using?

Get a RX480, spend whatever's left of the budget on a ~600 watt PSU of decent quality.

RX 480. Because at times, the GTX 1060 can push 60 FPS, even in 1440p as some reviews demonstrate. If you want only 1080P @ 60 FPS, the RX 480 is ideal.

P.S. Don't even consider the GTX 980, as you get much better performance for much cheaper price (GTX 1070)!

Nothing to see here ;)

Oh, okay then, good. Eh, 1060 or 480. Out of curiosity, what do you plan to do with your 760?

Most likely be selling to my friend that wants to build a cheap budget gaming pc. Same to my old I5 4690 on 3,5 Ghz he's budget is only 600 Euro / 670 USD...

The GTX 980 is the best overclocker and you'll likely see it top the other two even when they're both overclocked, but I've seen in falter in the wake of DirectX 12 and Vulkan games.

I'd go for the GTX 1060 if I was you.

I got GTX 1060 this week and I was able to OC it above the GTX980 OC performance on air. Not to mention that Maxwell is terrible at DX12/Vulkan.  Go for 1060 or RX480(non reference). Whichever is cheaper.  Right now the 1060 is better but RX480 may be the better card over time when it gets better drivers.

Well, barring the 980, choose either the 8gb 480 or the 1060. They should be evenly priced and trade blows.

Choose whatever you like, AMD or NVidia, however if I were you I'd be leaning towards the 1060, however in the future things might change, and maybe the 480 is the better performer, but right now, I'd say follow your gut.

1060 is better at DX11 and OpenGL, RX 480 is better at DX12 and Vulkan but we all know the majority of games run DX11 currently. But if you plan dual-GPU later your only choices are 980 or RX 480 sadly... :(

Vulkan might change tho ;) Nvidia has some Problems in Vulkan/Doom, and they are working on a Fix.

But anyway.. Theres ONE single Vulkan game out. That makes it completely impossible to say, if AMD or Nvidia runs better on it. Wait for more Vulkan games, before making such statements^^ Because the situation CAN turn around, even in DX 12 (we just have to wait and see how future Drivers will handle it, and how future Games will come out.).

@ Multi-GPU: Multi GPU with Midclass cards was always a bad idea, and is still a bad idea.

It's not a bad thing, the 1060 doesnt support SLI, because it would be a stupid Idea anyway.

And GTX 980 SLI makes no sense anyway, because 4gb Vram is just not enough for the settings, you need a SLI for.

Even Crossfire with 2 RX 480 is a bad idea, in my Opinion. Too many Problems, and in some cases, like 1080p gaming, even below a GTX 1070.
