First off, do you already have the CPU? If yes, get something like the EK predator 240/360 or an NZXT Kraken x61. If no, get something from intel. AM3+ is dead.

No that is a 220w chip you NEED water cooling, probabbly with at least a 240mm radiator.

Am3+ is five years old, and the 9590 is only as good as an i5 6500, I would wait for zen if you want amd instead of dumping money an ancient tech.

That's unfortunate. The 9590 fucking sucks. It's not even that fast, it runs SO FUCKING HOT, it has a 220w TDP... the list goes on. You can get a 6700 and an H170 board and get far better performance, temperatures, and power consumption. It's asinine to even think of buying a 5 year old architecture, top of the line CPU that is only get shittier and shittier every time Intel releases something new.

It was the motherboard vrms that was the issue though they overheated and caught fire, better boards have more phases, and better cooling for the vrms.

Honestly if your thinking of building one you can still wait for zen(amd cpus) to be released should be coming around the end of the year or go for intel couse amd is far behind for now but if you insist on buying a fx-9590 water cool it no other way

Try getting a water cooler on eBay using PayPal. If you get scammed, you can get your money back. There are nice ones for 40 USD.

It's not the cooler, it's the motherboard's VRMs (power delivery) blowing up.

People make jokes about AMD and how they're 'hot'  but this is a rare case of where a FX 9590 + any motherboard that's not a proper 990FX + weak CPU cooler = house fire.

I wouldn't go with anything higher then an 8350 with that motherboard, and you will get similar results to a 9590 with an overclock.

That may hold true for gaming but the 9590 easily runs ahead in things like 3D rendering and other highly threaded tasks.
