so why are so many people recommending a clean install on windows 10? upgrading seems like a good way ( on paper ) you just upgrade and keep all your programs and settings if i'm not mistaken?

The main reason to do a clean install is to avoid bringing junk with you i.e.malware viruses, and potential driver/app compatibility issues which can occur from time to time.

I am a paid professional, but only when I am at work...and getting paid.

ill give upgrading a shot  and if it fails ill just do a clean install
