So I'm due for an upgrade in about a week and i've decided it's down to these two phones. Both seem pretty damn good, but it's just setting them apart that i'm having trouble doing. I know kinda the general differences (screen size, sd card, removable batteries) but can someone give me a more in depth comparison of the two? Thanks.

The S4 or Note 3 are my choice for best phone right now. I love the screen size, battery life and the design of the phones.

i have the HTC one, its one solide phone, if you can miss the removable battery and sd card and build quality is more important (and good speaker), also, i have the occasional hick-ups but nothing to major, battery live is good but could be better, it will last a normal day with some 'gaming' light browsing and alot of texting. never used an s4 as daily driver.

I own the HTC One, the camera is horrible and wish I would have purchased the S4. Don't get me wrong, the phone overall is very nice - but I use my phone for work to take pictures of clients machinery and webcam meetings throughout the week and it's irritating when people try to zoom in to see the photo more in depth and they can't because it's so pixelated. :(

Are you putting your phone on battery saver? I have my GPS/WIFI/DATA and SYNC all turned on all day and I get 3 days on my battery no problem with the last day ending in 28-30% battery life.

It's a phone, that is new as of 2013 in a market full of phones that are averaging 8MP and they came out with a 4MP camera on a phone that simply draws in more light. That's great in low-light shots - but when you review the photo it's pixelated. The technology is there and in use, so the complaint is justified. lol

Don't get me wrong, I love the phone. Why, though, would you do that to a top-tier handheld that I think we can all agree on - is trying to be your all-in-one device? It's just madness....wait....no....

ITS SPARTA!!!!!

Make sure that you click on the icon for battery saver and make sure that CPU and DATA is selected. It will shut off your data after a period of hybernation. ;) I don't notice the CPU down clock when the battery saver is selected. :)

yes, its a bold move of them, but i think it packed out, if the camera is really that important buy a 1020 or a DSLR

Good deal, PM me and let me know how you end up.

Also, I would love to take my wife's DSLR on a job site - but with what I do, it'd be ruined in no time. lol I guess I'm just used to my last phone being 8MP that all the photos were so crisp and clear, this phone's camera takes me back to my Blackberry Bold

OP - the hardware in both phones is great. The S4 has a slightly faster CPU, expandable storage and a battery you can take out. If you are diligent with charging you shouldn't cause cycle points in your battery anyway. If I could do it over again, I would purchase the S4 - although, if photo clarity on zoom isn't important to you then the HTC One is a great device overall. Be mindful that if you aren't into social networking or keeping up on news topics the HTC Blink feed can NOT be removed from your home screens.

Enjoy your new phone, OP.
