What are good settings to OC the 6700K?

Can anyone give me some voltage ranges for like say 4.5ghz? i hear that's quite a normal overclock these days. I have come from a QX9770 on socket 775 so i'm clueless.

You should be able to hit 4.6 ghz though.... Most 6700ks are capable of that. That should take around 1.35 or 1.36 volts.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

A good chip would do it with 1.3V. But you will need to tweak things yourself, there are HUGE disparities between CPUs. It could vary from 1.3 to 1.4v easily for the same 4.6ish frequency. Try around 1.3v and if it's perfectly stable, you can lower the voltage. If not, increase really slowly until it's stable while staying below the 1.4v mark

If that's the case it's pretty decent actually. How did you test the stability ?

Yeah that seems great ! Now you'll have to see during real usage (anything that stresses the cpu from video editing to gaming) and be sure that there are no crashes or weird lags that can be caused by a non-stable overclock. If everyhing runs fine, you're done !

Out of curiosity, what do you score in Cinebench R15 at 4.8?  Sounds like a decent chip.

Don't know, i don't usually benchmark things. I look at benchmarks for my GPU, if it's performing to spec or above i'm happy.
