I need a new graphics card but i dont know which one to get. My friend thinks all amd cards are horrible, but i dont think so. He heeps telling me to get a used 970 when i can get a new 480 for the same price. What do i buy???? (i play alot of triple A games)(and stream).

I'd say to either get the rx 480, or save up for the 1060 if you really want a nvidia card. But I'd avoid the 900 series unless you were getting a really good deal on them.

Wasn't the 480 equal to or better than the 970 AND have more vram?

Choice is obvious.

we literally had this thread yesterday...

dont buy last-gen if you are even slightly worried about your GPU being future-resistant.

I would go for a RX 480 because it consumes less power, and has more memory

AMD with less power? Don't think so ..

EDIT: when idle the RX 480 uses more power

Nvidia has more options on the high end - but for bang for buck I'd recommend AMD. Getting a new RX480 seems to be the better choice, as both perform similarly.

In this case the choice is obvious. RX480 will definitelly be better in long run compared to almost 2 year old GPU (970).

You need better friends. The 480 is better.

I Am a AMD fan so i do go for the 480

but in real sence the 480 is new and at a very good price

where the 970 is at a larger cost and is a couple of years old now
