Resetting Windows

Go to solution Solved by Dankasaurus,

I would like to do a 100% clean install of everything

Meaning: Wipe the SSD and HDD and then reinstall windows on the ssd

I would then like to upgrade to windows 10 and then install drivers

Would I do this when I put the windows installation disc in? I remember you can format your drivers through there.

Is that right?

(Haven't done much with computers for a while)

Somebody has told me I can install Windows 10 Directly and use the Windows 7 key?

So basically my plan is to:

  • Format and wipe both my hdd and ssd.
  • Then install windows 7 again on the ssd.
  • Upgrade to Windows 10
  • Install Drivers

How would I go about doing this?

From memory... Don't you put the windows 7 installation disc into the disc tray.

And then format the HDD and SSD in the installation menu

Then install windows to the ssd??

It's been a while since I've wiped my computer

A windows 7 key will work in 10 until the upgrade time is over.

Do you mean install windows 10 directly and use my windows 7 key instead of a windows 10 key?

Or do you mean just to upgrade from my current windows 7

Assuming you don't plan on dbanning the HDD, you can just click on "do a fresh install/reset" within the OS and it will take care of EVERYTHING for you. Then without worrying about windows installation discs/keys you can do a fresh installation to windows 10.

Or just do a fresh upgrade installation of windows 10.

Im on the same boat friend.

I have 2 drives

SSD for OS

HDD for games

I just upgraded from W7 to W10

And now I want to do the clean install method by the Windows media tool, and I want to wipe everything, I dont mind downloading every game/program again and loosing my game saves.

I just dont want to deal with more issues.

How do i wipe both dirves? Is it in the install section when it ask to select the drive to put the OS? there can I also wipe the hdd?

Thanks in advance
