G4400 and GTX 950 768p Bottleneck!?!

1 hour ago, SteveGrabowski0 said:

The Pentium G4400 is nowhere near as good a CPU as the Pentium G3258 and that chip was fucking horrible for gaming when I ran mine at 4.4 GHz. Massive bottlenecking and cpu performance is completely independent of resolution. A pure dual core cannot keep a steady framerate in modern games unless you limit to 30 fps, in which case you might as well just get a PS4 instead. Even then, I couldn't get a consistent 30 fps disabling cores on GTA V to simulate a 3.8 GHz Haswell Pentium from my Xeon E3-1231v3. Don't buy a Pentium, they're awful for gaming. Pentiums are for your grandmother to watch youtubes of kittens and to order Viagra from Canadian pharmacies.

The issue withthe Pentium is NOT the power - it's the lack of threads. The reason Athlons are more often recommended even though they have slightly less overall power is because of the 4 threads - that is VITAL nowadays.

yeah that's right i highly recomend the athlon x4 too and i'm not saying that just like that i acualy tried it and it's my main cpu now which is the flag ship of the athlon it's 880k.

and also the advantage of getting a quad core cpu is that there are some games that even refuse to run in a dual core cpu or even in a dual core with hyperthreading and the major exmaple of that is far cry 4.

so what i want to say is get an i5 6400,6500 or even 6600k if you can and wait till you get the money for a better gpu like the gtx 1060 ;)

and for ma build it just remains the gpu i'm planning to get an msi rx 480 8gb next year because i spent all of my money on a bunch of equipements one of which is the 880k

sorry for the huge comment

peace :)

G4400 and GTX 950 at lower resolution like 768p, will it bottleneck current games like witcher 3, gta-v, cs go and other high end games? Mid settings will be enough for me. I do not need high or ultra type settings. I don't have a big monitor though. Just want to make sure that will work fine for me. Thanks

buddy

if you're on a budget and you want to build a futur proof pc here what i can advice you

first if you already have an lga 1151 motherboard then instead of buying a gtx 950 change your cpu to an i5 6600k which is ridiculiously good for gaming and even video rendering. so there you have a great cpu.

after getting the i5 start save up for a gtx 1070 or a 1060 if you're on an ultra budget.

and also don't forget your ram if you have 8 gb upgraade it to 16 gb for the futur proof gaming ok

i hope my comment will help you somehow

and my major advice do not rush ;)

OK...so what's the deal here?

i see on July 11th you posted for help on a new build with a 500$ budget, guys posted builds with core i5 for 500$...now you come with APU and stuff...

500$ USD was too much?

just ask for a 400$ build then...or a 350$USD build if that's your real budget...i'll help...just be honest...and be specific about what you need/want

do you need keyboard, mouse...headphones maybe? do you have a copy of windows or you need to buy one?

help me and i'll help you.

G4400 is pretty bad at modern games...and so are anything you can drop on an FM2+ socket...but maybe that"s all you can afford...i don't know...the athlon 860K would be a good start i think...maybe you can afford a skylake build with an i3-6100...who knows?

I just wanted to figure out which will be good for me. So I posted those posts. I was searching online and found various builds and got confused. So asked about different budget build so that I could get any clear idea. If that bother you, I will not post in here. Sorry for that.

pretty good yes...at least that way you can upgrade to an i5-6500 or a i7-6700 if you feel like it...it's a good platform to build a new computer on.
