learn more about networking

hi guys i want to learn more about networking so i'm searching for a book i don't want  a book that takes i lot and have like 800 pages i want a book that go directly to the informations in a clair way because i lose my self when it's too long ps i'm new i don't understand the basic protocols thanks . and if i'm wrong about the long books please correct me and i would like t know what are some good softwares to learn how to use like is backtrack a good start i mean is learning how to use it can help me ?

Networking is about patience and the willingness to learn from any source, including books.

 

But on to your question. I would start by just going on youtube and searching "network." There will be hundreds of videos about networks installs, upgrades, network hardware, etc. You can also look through the techquickie videos and find the ones about networking. They are pretty basic, but will get you on the right path.

Have a look at one or all of these. I used them (albeit the online versions) when I took my Network communications course last year and they are a very very good place to start.

well to help mu self i'm passing an a+ comptia exam it gives me a good view of the subject next is learning a networking comptia exam next a security one and i try to learn more about the things i'm actually learning there

A good way to learn networking related stuff is watching something like a Cisco CCNA course from CBT nuggets or lynda, I learnt a lot from the CBT nuggets courses.
