Hello guys ;

I am new to the forum and I need help with a new build, It will mainly be used for gaming but I will most likely use it for some programming applications as well. Below I have listed the parts I am thinking of getting but I need help deciding. I am not sure I am getting the best performance out there. Budget is $ 4000 so as long as I can get something that will handle everything for the next 5 years money is not an issue

case :  Corsair 900D (  I want space for future updates)

Motherboard :  Asus Maximus VI Extreme

CPU : Intel core I7-4770K (will do slight overclock)

CPU cooler : Corsair hydro 100I ( I will like to do some custom watercooling in the future I don't have the time or experience for this yet.)

PSU : Corsair Axi AX1200I

Hardrives : 1 x Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB(operating system ) 1 x  Western Digital 2TB ( everything else)

Memory : 2 x 8 gb Corsair Dominator Patinum

Video card : 2 x EVGA GTX 770 superclocked

fans : 4 Corsair air series SP120 quite editions ( this will be for a push/pull config with the H100I) the rest will be placed around the case.

Build seems pretty good. PSU seems a bit overkill tbh. 850w would do just fine.

Only advice is to wait on the GPUs. And Noctua fans.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

If you must buy it now, get 2 Titans but I would just wait for the new cards and save money and get more performance

If you will be mostly gaming a 4670K will be fine, would also go for a cheaper motherboard, dump the dominators (unless you REALLY BADLY want them) drop the PSU down to around 850 watts like someone else previously said and I would also go crossfire 7950s (cheaper and more vram) instead of SLI 770s or wait to see what the new radeon series brings to the table.

you are better off buying a 2000 dollar PC soon, and another 2000 dollar PC in the future; no matter what you buy today it will be garbage in 5 years.

No point going 2011 just for gaming. A 4670k is much cheaper and will do the job just as well.

No need to spend so much. You're better off spending much less now and upgrading when you need to. You spend less money and get better performance in the long run.

Don't blow that much. Spend half that money now and spend the other half in 3 years or so to upgrade again.

There's a point where the return on your dollar diminishes significantly and you're definitely pressing passed that, at the same time everything goes out of date at the same rate if not increasingly more accelerated despite how much you spend.

Error: 410

Hello ;

I really don't want to get Noctua fans for this build, I understand that they are probably better and more quiet than the corsair fans but I want to use corsair link in order to manage the speed of all the fans and Noctua for some reason are not recognized by the software. My current build has them and I had to switch them around to get the most of the software.

As per the video cards, I might end up waiting until the R9 290x come out so I can read some reviews on it and see how it stands against NVIDIA cards. Haven't heard of the 9xxxx series coming out either. Might be I haven't done my full research yet.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Dont get the Extreme, get the Formula instead.

The formula looks a lot sexier than the extreme I give you that and for a couple of days I was thinking of getting it instead but since I want to sli/ crossfire my gpu and add my sound card ( asus essence stx) I looks like its going to be a really tight fit that's if it fits at all. this sound card is big.

I usually Like to go over the wattage my system is supposed to achieve as I rather be over than under and have posting issues with my mobo.

Every new builder likes to overcompensate when it comes to the psu.

Trust me--your system takes up much less system than you think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiWThqgFfI4
