Installing windows, what does this mean?

Yeah it looks like some easy steps but i pressed close, removed the usb and restarted the pc and windows didnt open, so i assume i did something wrong. 

 

ELI5: What is this telling me to do?

edit: now that i think about it that makes sense to let it install first lol

no do upgrade, clean install. clean install!  (I really don't know what the hell is going on with your upgrade, but upgrades tend to have issues and clean installs are better)

Uhh its not an upgrade? I havent had a OS on this pc yet? Did i fuck up?

the installation media is the USB drive or CD or whatever that you're using to install it. It's saying to restart the computer without that in, then plug in the USB drive or whatever and restart the upgrade.

means start the computer(restart) after you pull, the disc......... when it boots to desktop put the disc back.

oh... that's weird. Did you accidentally choose upgrade instead of doing a fresh install?

ok, it says upgrade in the box there, no prior OS means it's a clean install so all good there

Just try installing it again and see what it does, its possible that it bugged out

So i think what I downloaded was for an upgrade and not the actually OS. Please help. I need a link for windows that i can use to install on a pc with no OS

Are you just trying to install windows 7, or are you trying to install windows 10 and use the windows 7 key?

Did you run setup from Windows or booted directly from your Windows USB?

That message is basically, you can't perform a upgrade yet, cause windows is pending a system update.

Remove the Windows install media and restart your computer. When update has finish configuring, restart the setup and click on Upgrade.

What OS are you trying to install?

i have a win7 key. i was told i could use win7 key when installing win10.... im guessing thats wrong?

 

where can i find the win7 install tool?

i dont think oem keys work but a regular key should

Clean install and i dont really know if its set up from windows or usb key. What exactly does that mean?

no, that's correct. Go to the link hewittla posted and under "Need to create a USB, DVD or ISO?" click download now. under there it has instructions if you click "Using the media creation tool" and "perfrom a clean install"

because the link i posed above downloads the windows 10 iso and creates the bootable usb all in one go
