Advice on Headset/phones

Hey, I am currently looking to upgrade from my Corsair 1500 they've done well for what I paid for them. Currently I have my eyes set on the Senheisser P363D since of the functionality of the microphone, quality, and comfort. As well as the included USB soundcard allows me to keep my speakers plugged in as well.

I was hoping that I could get advice as to what exactly I am paying for with that £200 headset, if it's worth it or if their is another alternative headset which is equally good or performs better.

In terms of why I am not buying separate headphones and microphone, is because I don't have too much space. I could make space for it, but If I could get a headset with the same performance and durability as headphones that would be grand. I am worried that if I do buy headphones my motherboard won't be able to deal with it and i would have to spend money on purchasing a DAC. With microphones I haven't really found a solution I like, the biggest problem is that they don't have a mute button to mute them quickly but I do know the quality they bring. Also no speedlink microphone I have tried them in the past and was not a big fan of them.

My budget is around £200 I am not looking for 7.1 surround sound in my headset/phones but if its there I won't mind.

Thanks for reading.

Just get these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-High-End-Open-Circumaural-Headphones/dp/B0042A8CW2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381067438&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+hd+598 and a modmic or a zalman mic and your done. Headsets will not get you the best quality sound and mic

Or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-backed-Hi-Fi-headphones/dp/B009S332TQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1381067542&sr=8-2&keywords=ad700 and get a Zalman mic

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zalman-ZM-MIC1-microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1381067573&sr=8-3&keywords=ad700

If you don't mind if your headphone is not a headset just get a desktop mic: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Microphone-Snowball-iCE-Adjustable/dp/B006DIA77E/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1381067600&sr=8-5&keywords=blue+yeti

Since the Modmic is hard to find these days

Trying to stay away from any clip-on microphones since of the bad experience I have had with them in the past, looking into those headphones right now my only question is with the blue yeti how sensitive is it and how much background noise will it pick up.

Get some nice sennheisers and a blue yeti for that money :P , the yeti has a very convenient mute button and one of the best sound qualities you can get :P

Currently looking like a good idea x:

Don't know if you would want this but I use a Logitech G930. It's a wireless headset

I've got this from Amazon 2 months ago and until now i have no regrets.

I was thinking about wireless and if I was going to pick up a pair It would have to be these my friends have had the logitech G930 in the past, they speak highly about it but when you ask what happened to them they turn sour rather fast haha.

leave the headsets just get that zalman mic and watch this  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEjwyYOFwZg

get Audio-Technica ATH-M50

The audio Technica ATH-M50 looks good, but are they closed ?

I should add I am looking for an open pair of headphones, closed isn't the end of the world but just a preference on my part forgot to add this earlier. With any of the stand alone headphones should I worry about having to pick up a DAC as with the DT770 ? Also does anyone know much about the Samson Meteor mic ?

Thanks for the quick replies :D

pc363d's essentially are HD555's with a mic and a usb sound card.

if the HD598's are 70 pounds cheaper, there's no reason to even look at the 363d's.

the HD5xx series isn't that power hungry so a dac/amp shouldn't be all that high on the priority list.

you are just going to have to find a mic to go with them.

Will work for electronic components and parts

If you were to go with a desk or clip on mic you could consider something like this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDRMA900-AE-Home-Headphones/dp/B007I1QXX2/ref=sr_1_22?s=electronics-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1381148489&sr=1-22&keywords=open, pretty good for an open option.

Thanks for the info, I've looked into microphone and probably will end up going with the snowball usb microphone but I do have a worry about headsets I've been looking into beyerdynamic custom one & the ATH M50's as well as the HD598 & 555 my biggest concern mainly with the Custom one & ATH M50 is comfort, and how much they heat up your ears. I've had pleather headphones in the past and my ears have gotten quite hot in them  so was wondering how much of a problem this is.

Also those headphones look really fragile Oddball
