With the new 1060 reviews out i was wondering how it would stack up at 1440p?

Im not saying games just now but in 3years aswell, i know it wont be at ultra but 60fps would be nice?

Is this even possible or shall i stick to 1080p?

Thanks

will perform fine for most games, when it struggles you can add a second when you have the funds. I'm using 2x 970gtx and it runs 60fps + most games @ 1440P

You can never predict, how harware hungry games in the future (even in the near future) will be. I personally think, that the 1060 is a sweet spot for 1080p gaming at max. settings with about 90FPS and about 60FPS at medium to max. settings at 1440p. But this is the case now. In the future it might be different. Thus, I think the 1060 is an excellent choice as a value graphics card.

Yeah it's actually quite a competent 1440p card. You might have to turn down a few settings but it will do fine (especially once overclocked).

Around medium or high settings? (depending on the game of course)

Im not sure if i should "future proof" myself and ge the 480 so i can crossfire but i have never had an nvidia card and would like to try them, they are also good overclockers too apparently

About high settings. At 1440p on ultra to very high settings it gets about 40-50 fps in most titles.

It will do good considering that the R9 390 did good at 1440p. And it should perform better than the 390.

Thanks, but the real question is, rx480 or 1060 (which you have probably heard all day)

Pros of 480

cheaper

crossfire for future

cons of 480

bit more power draw

worse performance

worse ocing

vice versa for the 1060

My Setup :P

I would personally get a 1060 (not because I'm an Nvidia fanboy, I currently have an AMD GPU) because it performs a bit better. If I ever wanted a GPU upgrade I would then sell the 1060 and get a 1080. SLI/Crossfire support in games isn't that great. You can get 1060's for 250 which is the same price as the 8 GB 480.

Is there a difference between brands as it varies from £259 to £325 and if i got the £325 one i might aswell get a 980ti
