However i just recently plugged in msi slot into other slot and my picture wasnt distorted at first amd ran windows fine i dont beleive it loaded the drivers tho as the lahoit for wimdows was crammed together and ugly after it installed driver updates i had to restart my pc and it went back to my problems again can someone help me please or give me answers thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have onboard video. Use that to download the drivers.

make sure it is firmly installed into the slot. make sure your cables are plugged in correctly, and are not torn or tearing at any point along the cord.

Check for System Restore and go back to anytime before. I wouldn't use the latest driver if it's causing issues.

Well if its not drivers ( wich are quite easily checked ), then your 290x is dead

I would see if you can. It won't hurt to try. Are you overclocking the AMD card?

catalyst and crimson drivers? What are those?

AMD calls their program Catalyst and Crimson (shade of red) is their driver designation.

Just wipe old drivers with ddu, and install new ones. If it doesnt work then you got dead video card

Display Driver Uninstaller. google it, should be first link. Run program and it will wipe the registry and files for the display driver allowing for a clean install of a fresh new driver.

display driver uninstaller. You need to use it when changing gpu's and especially when changing from amd to nvidia and other way arun. Also can you take picture of the screen when using 290x

That is terrible troubleshooting.

Havent seen you doing anybetter, theres only 2 things that can be wrong with it. Nvidia drivers interfiering with it or then its just dead. Removing oc dont do jackshit if its small one

Let me clear some things up first off the only reason why i used the nvidia gpu is because using my 370 my display was messed up and wouldnt show desktop so i had to use nvidia to try and trouble shoot my main gpu. And my gpu isnt 290 its a r7 370 4gb and yes ill take pics

There is many more possibilities than just 2 issues. Drivers and the card itself are not the only factors. The slot could be broken, the cords could be shorting, the pins on the display output ports could be corroded. OC's do weird things and regardless of the card can cause issues. All information must be gathered to make an informed decision. checking the drivers and then scraping the part is not good troubleshooting.

If other card works in same slot= not pci slot

Small oc can add artifacts, but they are small

Bigger oc = bsod

He was trying on nvidia card wich worked fine, wich means that he has nvidia drivers installed, so theres quite high chance of it interfiering with amd ones.

Large white artifacts and messes like that, is pretty clear indication of it being broken.

No need to ask same guestions as others, if they have been answered allready, so i dont see any issues of going straight to the 2 most possible conclusions for this.
