I'm a long time fan of Linus, new forum member. I own a clevo P150em with a i7 3720qm, and a 680m laptop. Its from Myth logic (Pollux 1612).

I am planning to build a steam machine this week. Well a steam machine, or a gaming htpc- which ever you want to call it. It will be for gaming mostly with my 48 inch 1080p Samsung TV. I also have the nvidia shield so it will stream to that as well.

Budget Price- 1300$

All items will be purchased from microcenter

Case- Bitfenix prodigy mini ITC case.

Mobo- Gigabyte z87n wifi - I want a board with fast WiFi because it will not be wired to router.

Ram- Corsair ballistix 16gb DDR 3 1600

PSU- Corsair cx600 watt non- modular

CPU- i5 4670k haswell

GPU- Evga gtx 770 2gb ddr5

CPU cooler- Corsair H60

HDD- Seagate 1 TB 7200 rpm

SSD- sandisk 64gb- just for OS, will upgrade later

Extra cooling- 1 120mm fan, and 1 230mm fan.

Any advice or comments? I'm excited! Am think about the 780, but that would push me from 1300$ to 1550$, and I still need the os. I don't know if its worth it?

That case is gigantic, will look weird sitting next to a tv.  Since you are using an itx board, you might as well find a smaller case.  Unless you have made room and what not for the prodigy somewhere, then that's up to you, just my opinion.

Available from 3pm to Midnight Eastern Time (GMT-5). (>'-')> <('-'<) ^(' - ')^ <('-'<) (>'-')> You can't stop the kirby dance.

Well I want the 770 for shield streaming.

What case would you recommend? I was going to get the fractal 304, but it looks difficult for cable management And airflow

Actually with two drives only you'd be fine because you can just remove two of the white brackets and use the room for cable management and free up some airflow.

My home server is in a 304 and it was a pain to build in with all drive slots populated, but it should be easy enough if you do this. It's an all-around great case, you should consider it

Switch to a 7970, 8GB RAM and get a modular PSU (RM650) for your savings.

I'd recommend you to buy Prodigy M with an mATX board tough.

do not switch out the 770 for a 7970 nor a 7950, wait for the new amd cards then make your decision also i would recommend a air cooler if you arent going to go with a 240 rad or bigger its not worth the money
