Do you need a strong gpu to display on a 75 in tv, not for gaming but for stuff like video conferencing, playing videos, and possibly some 3d renderings

No you don't if you don't plan on using any 3D applications (ie. games)
 

Also, the physical size of the screen doesn't matter, just the resolution (1080 vs 4k) but if its just for light desktop workloads, anything will do.

You silly physical size doesn't matter. Its the resolution. Get a RX 480 and you shall be fine for quite a long time

 

EDIT** Get 480 if doing heavy gaming otherwise just ask others.
