'The Doctor' Mini ITX Gaming PC

Megamew2

This is a rough draft of a pc that is long from becoming reality. Just wanted to know how this initial load-out of parts could be improved while still maintaining a $15560 price tag.

well... personally i would change the motherboard, i mean EVGA is a good brand and stuff, BUT... with this one, they messed up in a lot of different ways...

i would get ANY other Z170 mini itx mobo instead of the evga one... but that's just MY OPINION...

I look at this and think "This is fantastic, cheaper and with more features" but I'm in conflict with myself over the monitor. I already own a decent 1080p monitor, and I was heart set on giving ultra wide a chance, especially as the one in my build supported free-sync, something I've been longing for a long time. But the i7 is also super compelling. Thanks for this! (No sarcasm intended :P )

Well are you set on those peripherals because you can slim down a little on the cost of those. and try and add in a better monitor that way?

Same with the case.. Are you set on having that manta?

That's the case I would get. And you can get that LG in there for a getting a slightly different mouse. Also found a better HDD for a lower price.

A larger ssd would be much better. Perhaps something like the microphone purchase could delayed for a bit.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I'm not really concerned with mass storage on an SSD. Its intention is only to hold the operating system and a minuscule amount of programs, no more.

SSD usage grows over time unless one practices aggressive o/s management. Update/patch files are typically not discarded. Nor are drivers generally removed when no longer needed. Also the drive needs space for temporary files, swap, restore points, and recycle bin. And, in my experience, one tends to collect applications and utilities as time goes by.

The cost of doubling ssd capacity is quite low. About $15 - $20 more, depending on brand.
