Best cheaper GPU, for mixture of gaming and rendering?

kerbingamer376

I'm looking for a good, cheap GPU (nothing over £100), for doing a mixture of gaming (mostly portal 2, kerbal space program and similar) and render jobs (cycles render). This would replace a geforce 9600gt.

Any suggestions? I'd prefer nvidia, or something that plays nice with linux.

Maybe a GTX 750TI or R7 360. Which resolution you want to play this games? If 720p you may consider the r7 240 which is not a good gpu but it will be ok for these games.

Rendering with what? OpenCL vs CUDA depends heavily on your workflow.

Blender cycles. CUDA seems to work best with it, although opencl seems to be supported.

Something like a GTX 1060 might be a good option depending on how it performs when it comes out.

lowest price at the market is 140 dollars and with a discount I think he can actually get it with 109. Nice (go for it)

Yep, any model is fine though. I like MSI coolers because they're tacky.

Sadly, because of where I live, that card becomes £150 with shipping costs and customs.

You can get a 950 used for wayyy cheaper... Provided that you are comfortable with buying used hardware, you can get better/cheaper deals... Both the GTX 760 and the 950 sell for less than $100 on eBay...

$1=£0.757920267

So, something that costs $100 in £ is:

~£75...

As far as I know import charges do not apply for items below £100...

(Correct me if I am wrong)

If you are handling massive projects then a dedicated Quadro or Firepro will be best, it don't have to be very high end, it's just better suited with reliability.

I can say if it's just casual uploading a game or something online, then any GeForce or Radeon will do that for you.

Being honest i would care more about your CPU though, rendering is still a heavily CPU reliant task if you want best results.

I'm only doing small projects, but I'd like something capable of CUDA, as that is what my render engine uses.
