Hey,

I've haven't used a controller in forever. However, recently I decided to purchase a controller because I play a fair amount of driving/flight games, and to make Rocket League slightly less completely impossible.

I've narrowed it down to the Xbox One controller and the Xbox 360 controller. I'm leaning toward the XBOne controller, but it's quite a bit more expensive than the 360 controller for what seems like a very similar product.

So, purely for use on a PC, which would you recommend? Is the One controller better than the 360, and worth the premium? Would you suggest another controller?

Thanks all :P

The new controller looks better, feels better and is newer so most games will support it.
I'm not saying games will stop supporting 360 controllers (At least not in the near feature) but there's a possibility if you are planning on keeping it for years.
You never know :Þ

I also find the Xbox One controller to be more durable and better constructed.

Having used and owned both I would probably save the money (if it's a decent amount) and go with the 360 controller. But then again, I never really had an issue with the D-Pad.

I find the 360 good. If you want to spend less money take the 360 one. I have it and have no problems at all.

Xbox one controller is overall better. Has better triggers and has a much better d pad. If you can afford it get it by all means.

Ok, thanks all.

One more question, if I may: wired or wireless?

It comes to personal choice. Personally I enjoy wired because you don't have to worry about the battery life but with wireless you reduce the clutter of wires.

Personal taste. Is the option to move more freely worth the extra cost? (Forgetting about the battery life issue as you can use it while it's plugged in.

I would suggest having the wireless dongle as it not only provides support for multiple controllers at once, but it also supports the headset/headphone function of the controller.

Personally, I actually use and love my Steam Controller for gaming with a controller :)

Xbox One controller is much better, IMO. If you feel like you're going to use it a lot I'd even recommend an Xbox One Elite controller. They're expensive as Hell but it's undeniably the best controller I've ever used.

Definitely go wireless, too. If you go for an X1 controller (the regular non-elite version) the new controllers can be customized on Xbox Design Labs and they have Bluetooth, meaning you don't need a separate dongle, which is a big plus, for me at least.
