Async compute will not matter since it is very difficult to implement (devs are lazy), I'd go with the 980ti most likely depending on the model.

Well I'm torn. All the problems about async compute and sorts. Please send help.

The 980 Ti is way omre powerhungry and loud but at that kind of a price difference ... What is the 1070s price?

Errrrr.... Well I'm not in us. So I'll convert it. 1070 is around 610$. Tax in my country is kinda fucked up. Both will be from zotac the amp extreme for 1070 and amp omega for 980ti

if you get a nice OC on that 980ti it can match the performance of a 1080 ;)

I would say 980ti. If you overclock it, it performs the same or like in my case much better then a 1070 and on par with a 1080.

Just keeping this here as a Wait, my understanding was the 1070 also lacked async compute. Is that wrong? I thought they were still doing driver optimizations for load balancing using context switching than real async compute.

It isn't even this, it's that it only has a benefit in a very select set of circumstances. Do you have hundreds of things on screen at once, all with their own AI needing to be managed? Yes, then sure it makes sense to use the compute capabilities of the GPU. If not you end up making Hitman where even on AMD hardware that utterly supports this feature, you are seeing no more than 5% performance benefit. It's not laziness to not devote a lot of time and resources that could be better allocated elsewhere if the benefit is intangible.

I was referring to when it was relevant, but you are right most games have no reason to use such a feature in the first place.
