I Recentley built a gaming computer and i am having problems with my gpu ( radeon 6870 ). it will black out and reset the computer in some instances and others it will be ok,

Download MSI afterburner and monitor your temps and see what its doing. It could also be your CPU overheating as well. Download Realtemp and monitor.

well.. monitor the temperatures.

 

if it doesnt have a thermal sensor, the "manual" way will do :P

If it's not the temps it could be the ram.

i am currentley ordering a evga 500b1 but i had used a logysis 575w pos that i think was the cause.

i hav a 1x8gb pny stick since the 15$ mobo had one of its ram slots fried.

So the PSU, ram and/or the motherboard maybe the problem. I've had to deal with boards that work only half the time, then I transplant the CPU, ram and well everything but the MB and it works flawlessly. I'd first try clearing the cmos.

My money is on the PSU.

The OS should be able to recover from driver failure on the GPU.

Ram should cause it to throw memory errors and bluescreen.

CPU overheat should be obvious due to increased fan speeds.

1. put egg inside the case

2. wait for few mins

3. if its cooked then its overheating

 

Other wise its the psu acting up
