~$100 headphone recommendations

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones in the ~$100 range. I'm thinking about the Audio-Technica m50x's or the Shure SRH440's. I'm going to be using them for music listening and mostly for gaming? Should I go for the Hyperx Cloud II's instead?

The HD558 is generally available for around 70 USD which together with a vmoda boom-pro is a 100 dollar headset.

A number of people on this (and some other audio forums) really don't recommend the M50x.

But @SSL is probably the best person to ask this to.

The Cloud II are rebranded rebrands of cheap semi-audiophile headsets. They aren't bad, but if you don't mind the sound leakage from open back devices, I'd totally recommend them instead personally.

Mostly flat, but i wouldn't mind a bit more bass.

Closed headphones

They will be used in my room almost exclusively, which is a quiet environment.

NVX XPT100: okay balanced sound

Audio-Technica ATH M40X: More "flat" than the M50x

Sony MDR-7506: a tiny bit v shaped in sound

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro: Kinda what the M50x's wish they were

I use the NVX XPT100, I like mine. I feel they are very balanced. However I'd also check out Status Audio Cb-1 and Philips SHP9500s, they are some-what bassy though.
