Windows 10 Desktop creates duplicated folders/shortcuts/icons

Hi.

Basically, i upgraded to Win 10 about 2 weeks ago, when it was still free. Doing the upgrade from my copy of Win 7 to Win 10 went smoothly, with no issues whatsoever.

After having upgraded, i noticed that my user folders, meaning Desktop, Documents, Picturesm Music etc. all where located on the C:drive (my SSD) where i installed windows. However, when using my windows 7 copy i did re-route the locations of those folder to my D:drive, my storage HDD. I decided to ree-route the locations of the folders again, but ended up with a strange issue.

Instead of creating only one folder or shortcut on my desktop, now my pc now creates duplicated version of everything on the desktop. If i remove one of the duplicated folders/icons/shortcuts, then both the duplicate and the original dissapears. This is a very strange bug that i've never seen before and i could use some serious help.

Sounds like some problem in the registry.

Well, honestly that doesn't say much to me... any clue on how to solve it? :)

Can you open regedit, navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Screenshot the window and upload it here :P ?

From what I see theres a duplicate value of D:\Desktop on the 4th row {754AC886-DF6...

Not sure if that can be causing it, you can back up this key and remove it temporarily.

Let me know what happens!

Removing the key seemed to help at first, but a while later the duplicate icons showed up again

Check the registry if the key is back.

I suggest resetting the desktop path to the default for now to test stuff out.

%USERPROFILE%\Desktop

%USERPROFILE%\Desktop

Resetting the desktop path to the default didn't seem to have any effect. When i try to change it via Desktop/properties/location there appears no buttons that allows me to change the destination either. When i try typing the destination it won't allow me to erase or replace the text. (Again i apologize for it being in swedish)
