GTX 1070 Reference Overclock, and overall performance

vtminh1993

So I recently upgraded my Strix 970 to a reference 1070. I bought it from best buy just to try it out and looking to return it if things turned out bad. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the reference 1070. I OC'ed it with 220 core clock and 600 mem clock and it's running at 80 celsius under load and about 40 idle with 35% fan. I did have to play around with the fan curve to achieve that temp, but it worked out well. I did some performance comparison with the 970 that I was running:

Parts:

CPU: i5 - 6500 cooled with H55 Quiet edition. I know a water cool is unnescessary but I just like the clean look :D

RAM: PNY 16 GB DDR4 Anarchy

Mobo: GA H170N - WIFI

PSU: Corsair CX550M

GPU: GTX 1070 Founder Edition.

Overall I am super happy with the performance level that the 1070 offers. I am pretty sure once board partners start to release their cheaper version close to the MSRP, it'd be well worth the money. What's your opinion on the 1070?
