usb read-only problems

my USB just stopped working, was copying files to it then it stopped, went and safely removed the USB via "safely remove hardware and eject media" waited 10 secs, then plunged it in, windows would see it but could not access it, disk manger says 7.21 GB RAW, READ ONLY. 

after searching google for answers (nothing came up), i just gave up and started this topic

 

is their a fix? and if so what is the procedure?
