How should I go about getting my CCNA?

AMICLG

How should I go about getting my CCNA in Routing and switching? I know there are a lot of network admins, etc. on the forum maybe they can shed some light.

Find a local school/college that does the CCNA course with an instructor. Pay the fees and go to the classes.

It is that simple.

I was hoping to do it for free if that is at all  possible.

Did you try the Cisco Learning Network?  It's pretty much everything you could possibly want to find about studying for any Cisco certification.  Also, even though a CCNA is one of the first levels of Cisco certifications in Administration, I would HIGHLY recommend you check out a couple other certs first depending on your level of expertise.  Getting your MCSA, Net +, Linux +, and Server + could be great ideas to both pad your resume and also provide some great background knowledge leading up to the Cisco certs.  Plus it will also help to broaden your possibilities for employment by not painting yourself solely into the Cisco corner.

Just food for thought.

My personal favourite for any of the CompTia exams:  http://www.professormesser.com/

A website that cropped up on a couple different google searches that I will not personally endorse as I know nothing about it:  http://www.freeccnaworkbook.com/

Probably not going to happen unless your employer will pay for it. You can study the chapters at home, but you will still need to pay for the exams.

I got the Explorer courses if you're interested. I can "borrow" them to you if you want.
