Random Screen on and off?

Recently my screen randomly goes black (Not actually off) for 2-3 seconds before coming on again. I've noticed it in games and normal usage. 

The screen remains on and the power switch stays illuminated not orange as if it was going to idle. 

 

What would be causing this? GPU, monitor heat?

Try a different HDMI slot or VGA slot In the GPU, or maybe just purchase another HDMI/VGA cable...

Yeah it was a tiny bit loose. I've done up the screws so it won't slip out, even though the PC never moves :) Thanks guys.
