Getting new RAM, speed downclocking

So I have this RAM: https://www.amazon.co.uk/G-Skill-8GBXL-Main-Memory-PC1600/dp/B004I763AW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467326179&sr=8-3&keywords=g-skill+ripjaws+1600mhz

and I want to get another 8GB set, I have read that if I got another set of 8GB at 1866MHz+ RAM the speed of the new RAM would downclock to match my 1600Mhz RAM. Going on the assumption that this is true should I save myself a few pounds and just get 1600MHz RAM instead of the 1866MHz+? or will this RAM's higher speed actually make a bit of a difference?

Try and get the exact same kit as before. You could run into issues if you don't and there are still possibilities they wont even work together. Generally its recommended to get a 4 stick kit that are tested together and are guaranteed to work as advertised. If you mix and match.. you never know what your going to get.

no it wont make a difference to buy higher speed since it will downclock to 1600

just get whatever is cheaper, 1866 or 1600
