Chromebook Crouton Question

I don't own a Chromebook nor have I ever used Crouton, but according to this article, it'll wipe your whole Chromebook if you disable developer mode.

 

"Disable developer mode on your Chromebook and it’ll automatically powerwash itself, restoring your Chromebook to its factory state."

You need a device running Chromium OS that has been switched to developer mode."
