You would need a compatible x99 cpu (haswell-E) and use that one to update the bios. Then you can use your 6800k. Or return the 6800k for an 5820k. The 6800k is a waste of money.

I5 4470     -     Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo    -    Asus Strix GTX960    -    12Gb ram    -    Adata SP600 128Gb    -    Seagate 2Tb    -    AsRock Fatal1ty B85 Killer    -    Seasonic M12II EVO 520

IN WIN 703    -     Dell P2414H    -    LG Flatron M197WDP    -    CMSTORM Quickfire XT with MX blue's    -    Logitech  G502

no. I can't do that.

because I bought the mobo and the i7 in singapore. I don't think it will work. just like changing the i7 only

otherwise. the asrock itself say you just need to update the mobo bios. include the 6800k

Any lights on the mobo? Have you got all the power connectors in? Have you got the PSU switched on at the back?

what? you need to put in a 5820k first and update the bios then put in the 6800k

http://www.asrock.com/support/download.asp?cat=BIOS and it seems you can get the updates from the asrock website

if you dont have a 5820k then it wont work. it needs a cpu that works to do the bios update before you can put in the 6800k.
