Allergies

So I think I have randomly become allergic to pollen and/or cats. I have two cats and about the beginning of May I got a sore throat with constant draining in my throat. The soreness went away on and off after 3 weeks. But now whenever I start to brush my cat my right eye itches and my throat begins to have mucous in it. I went to the doctor and they said I probably have allergies. I honestly don't care as it is not horrible just an itchy eye sometimes and constant spitting loogies. But can I just randomly become allergic after living with a cat since I was born?

Possible. I used to use Neosporin all of the time but as of a few years ago, I became allergic to it and can't it use it anymore (Not without a rash / the wound getting infected).

 

I've also had friends that developed a fruit allergy out of the blue and had it disappear after a few years.

I have family members that became allergic to shellfish well into their 30s and beyond after no such past allergies.

 

I had an allergic reaction to summer after 35 years of life.  Pollen or something.  Took me two days, and a few boxes of tissues, to realize I was experiencing an allergy.

Few years back I developed a bout of allergies from unknown causes (assumed from processed soy). After a pretty draconic regime it got better but years after I still have some issues when spring pops up. Not as bad as it was when it first happened but still annoying (thankfully it's manageable without medication)
