which cpu to go with

i5 4670k   (17250)

i5 6600k   (17000)

i7 6700k   (26000)

i7 6700(non k) (23500)

i7 4770k   (26000)

i7 5820k    (31800)

i7 5960x   (87000)

i7 6900k   (93000)

 

primary use: gaming(1440p)

secondary use : video editing(720/1080p)

extra use : some 3d rendering /app dev(android)/IoT {all for college}

i7 6700k all day, those extra core will benefit you in (some) games and are needed for rendering :)

EDIT: just realized I'm a moron, you can also go with 2011 socket CPUs if you have the money :)

As much as id like to reccomend my babe(4670k) i would go for the 6800k and 6850k, though if they are not availiable go for the 6700k.

if you can, i7 5820k as the extra cores are very good for rendering. if you can't spend the money, get a used e5 2670 instead.

if your budget allows for it then get an i7 (kseries - non-k is hard to justify the price)
if you dont have the budget for it, then any of the i5 k-sku will be plenty powerful for your needs

i7 6700k is just abit above budget ( amazon coupons might bring it down) also i can save the RS1000 on case or PSU

5820k. its just a little more than 6700k and those 2 cores add up to a lot better performance in rendering. gaming performance is on par with 6700k
