Cases With USB Type C IO

Go to solution Solved by spartaman64,

you can probably find a drive bay expansion or something with usb 3.1

As far as I understand, the front IO of a case is dictated strictly by the case manufacturer. what good cases exist today (with a sidepanel window) which have a USB Type C port on the front IO?

also, is the front IO modifyable in any way?

i think usb type c is too new for a case manufactuer to have it and its usually swapable, you can get replacement boards usually.

Its a Championship not a Belt!

Some of the new cases coming out do have USB type C like the IN Win 805 which is the only one I know of currently, as for modify there are bay addins you can get to put in more IO or newer IO, as for directly modifying the built in one if you don't mind some DIY work doable but may not be as elegant or easy.

A USB 3.1 I/O bay would require the board to have the necessary controllers for 3.1 in the first place, otherwise it would just be a standard USB 3 port. Unless you go for a PCI add-in card.

For USB Type C, a bay I/O would work if it converts to a normal USB header.

im guessing his motherboard has usb 3.1 headers if hes asking for a usb 3,1 case

He's asking for USB Type C, doesn't mention 3.1.

They're two different things that aren't necessarily together (ie. 3.1 without Type C and type C without 3.1)

i assumed that the motherboard headers for case IO usb 3.1 normal and usb 3.1 type C are the same but yes i could be wrong

As a side not for OP, it seems like cases with type C may use a simple pass-through to an onboard Type C connector, rather than special internal headers like current USB standards. There's likely converters, but if you look at upcoming boards like the MSI X99 Gaming Pro Carbon, there's just a Type C connector slapped on the board for the front I/O.

there also appear to be ones with sata express and you can probably convert freely between usb 3.1 type A and type C
