BF4 beta HEAVILY unoptimized?

Hirad123

After updating to Catalyst 13.10Beta2, I get about 40 - 50 frames on my 2550K and HD6850 on Low of course. :P Running at native 1080p too.

I have one PC with 2600k with HD6850, 8gig 1600 DDR3,  and get 30-50FPS with 13.10 - the same I had before I updated it :)

Intel 4770k@4.6GHz, ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero, Kingston HyperX Beast 2x8GB 2400MHz CL11, Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming, Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB - RAID0 (2x120Gb), 2xWD 1TB (Blue and Green), Corsair H100i, Corsair AX860, CoolerMaster HAF X, ASUS STRIX Tactic pro, Logitech G400S, HyperX Cloud II, Logitech X530, Acer Predator X34.

We pretty much have the same spec PC's apart from the CPU's! Ha! :P I noticed an improvement after updating, definitely less stutter!

CPU: Intel Core i5 2550K @ 4GHz | Cooler: Gelid Tranquillo Rev. 2 | Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3

GPU: XFX 1GB HD6850 OC'd | SSD: OCZ Agility 3 60GB | HDD: Samsung 500GB | PSU: Corsair HX520W | Case: Zalman Z11+

I didn't have any stutter, and I get a bit worse on that machine as on my other one which has: Q9550@4Ghz (the i7 isn't overclocked yet), 4GB 1066 DDR2, SSD and GTX560ti Hawk, i get 45-60 FPS. No stutter on either of the machines.

Intel 4770k@4.6GHz, ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero, Kingston HyperX Beast 2x8GB 2400MHz CL11, Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming, Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB - RAID0 (2x120Gb), 2xWD 1TB (Blue and Green), Corsair H100i, Corsair AX860, CoolerMaster HAF X, ASUS STRIX Tactic pro, Logitech G400S, HyperX Cloud II, Logitech X530, Acer Predator X34.

I am running 3570k OC to 4.4Ghz, 2 x 7950's xfire and dedicated SSD just for games. I get between 45-60 FPS average on Ultra 1080p and occasionally spike up 70, 80, 90. I also experience like others that massive drop in FPS randomly, but I am glad I am not the only one and we have to be at least thankful that this is obviously something wrong with the game.

What makes me laugh is how have DICE not picked this up yet or not come across this? What system could they possibly be running during development that you wouldn't notice this poor performance/optimization?

Boggles my mind!

The beta is a fairly old build. These issues have been ironed out. Well they were at least in the copy I played at the EB Games expo. The game ran smoothly and many of the issues in the beta were none exsistant in this version. I was talking to the guys there and they ere saying that it is a newer build then the beta

Thanks for clarifying! Hope you are right :P

I hope fps is a hell of a lot better, I'm not saying that 2 x 7950 is the most powerful set up but should be more than enough to give me 60fps consistantly for smooth running at ultra 1080p.

I know this is going off topic but I hate the fact that they are charging £45 for the base game and another £40 for Premium, IMO that's disgusting!

I am running this on Win 8 Pro and I experience the issues explained earlier. Beta is buggy, simple.

Yeah £15 cheaper but still Premium is a rape charge ( excuse the language ).

Mine runs fine on a 7950 and 4670k, all overclocked... never had any issues, all ultra except terrain detail at high and msaa at 2x not 4x. Runs at a solid 58, somtimes dipping to 50, and I have vsync on so it never goes above 60 :D

Seems bf4 beta got a patch, cpu looks like it isn't stuck at 100 % cpu usage anymore ,gpu usage went up , framedrops are still there but playable for me now:P ,might downgrade my nvidia drivers back to 320.41 or 306.97 to see if the framedrops aren't nvidia driver related though

Had a whole bunch of troubles with my partner's game not starting at all, just showed the loading screen and then crashed on game start. Tried a couple of fixes for it (admin privileges etc.) and managed to get it working after an hour or so.
Then my brother installed the beta and was able to play it perfectly fine first time and every time after that. He then got sick of the mess of a beta that it is (looks terrible, mechanics are a bit off) and went back to BF3 and that started crashing on the loading screen too!

So strange..

Problem fixed here also, before update game used 1100MB+ of VRAM (720p, my GPU is 1GB) even with everything on low. Now it uses around 700-800MB with medium textures and 4xAA, it rarely drops under 26-30FPS, and it is playable even with recording.

Mine runs fine the only problem is that the FPS are jumping up and down all the Time.

I had the same problem in the Crysis 3 Alpha so I think it will be fixed on release.
