Hi one and all!

I have a question. I have a "stock system" not currently overclocked and no requested overclock by the builders But somehow my CPU clock speed is just shy of 4 mhz when the base clock is 3.6 mhz? Possible or have the builders (PC Specialist in the UK) pre overclocked the CPU? Or is the Turbo boost active and I've no idea?

Turbo frequency is 4GHZ. Don't worry about it.

3.8 should be all core boost.

125MHz strap with a 32 multiplier is 4GHz?

I'd just expect to see a 36 or 40 * 100MHz...not a 32*125MHz.

What's your memory running at?

That is just the JEDEC + SPD information. That does not tell us what it is currently running at. However, judging by that nomenclature of the ram itself, I am going to assume you have 3000mhz ram. If you loaded the XMP profile, the CPU strap will automatically change to 125. This is where your 4ghz comes from.

Yep, sorry for the miss information, it's the  Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000 MHz. So the CPU will jump speeds when paired with that speed of RAM?

It's caused by the memory running at XMP. Just lower your multipler until it does back to 3.6GHz by multiplying it with 125MHz.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
