This email from Apple isn't legit, is it?

When I go here: https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid#!&section=password and type in the valid hotmail email, it says xxx@hotmail.co.uk is not a valid appleID, is this fine or do AppleID's have some different domain that I don't know about? Like I said, never owned an apple product so have no clue how appleID's work.

its fake.

apple ids are whatever it is set as. it can end in @anything.com and still work, as long as they are valid emails and registered to a account.

and yeah, its fake.

Ok, I'm a paranoid guy and I have no AppleID or no Apple products, so I don't know what their emails look like. My mum told me she received an email from "Apple" saying she'd be billed 18 dollars a month for candy crush saga stuff, a game she doesn't even play, on a device she doesn't even own.

Ok, so pretty sure this is a phishing email. The email is attached. When I hover "click here" the website is www.safety-store-access.co - definitely not legit. However when I hover over the order number, and " Report a problem", it's a legit Apple URL.

My question is, how do these types of emails actually get through spam filters, and is there any way I can block it? I don't even use hotmail so i can't even figure out how to check the senders email...

Also can someone please confirm it is a phishing email, for my own sanity.

Edit: just tried to go onto apple to recover my mums email and it says it doesn't exist, looks like such a genuine email too, except when you look into the small details.

If you're certain nobody has an AppleID, it's fake. If the AppleID that's supposedly on it is someone's, then the account should be considered compromised and you should start locking things down right now.

Doesn't even sound formal enough to be remotely legit.
