Quick question regarding PCIe lanes. The CPU I'm using has 16 in total, and I'm running a graphics card and a wifi card in the system. I assume this means that they are both running on 8X. Will this effect performance? I haven't noticed a decrease in graphics performance since I put in the wifi card so I would think probably not. Would it begin to be affected if I added, say, a PCIe SSD and dropped it down to 1x8 + 2x4?

the wifi card would most likely be handeled through the motherboard chipset so the GPU would still be at 16x

If you go to the manufactures webpage, it will ell you what the configurations are.

Actually, not with any of the modern day CPU's...  The last "we're going to add PCIe lanes" motherboard that I have seen was the Sabertooth 990FX 3.0.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

That's exactly the page I'm on, I'm asking which of those configs (if any) will cause performance downgrades.

Like, you will lose bandwidth.  Without a doubt.  But effective real world performance would be minimal.

If you wanted to notice ANY difference it would be like when you loaded a new level in a game, and that first time you decide to move it stutters...  If you know what I'm talking about...  That situation might get slightly worse, but that is about as far as dropping down to 8x PCIe 3.0 will get.
