Is my GPU Healthy?

Go to solution Solved by ForsakenLive,

This is normal behaviour, when the GPU already 'finished its job' for half the second, it takes the other half to nap. It could be thanks to a lightweight task, or because it's waiting for another piece of hardware to finish theirs.

Specs:

GPU - R9 390

CPU - i5 4690k

MB - Asus Z97-P

RAM - 16GB DDR3

So, ever since i got my GPU back in April I have noticed that no matter what I play my GPU seems to either sit at 100% or spike to 100%

Im not sure whether this is completely normal or unhealthy for my GPU.

I can understand that it sits at 100% load when im playing GTA V on ultra, but im just sitting here watching netflix and playing runescape and its spiking like crazy.

Even if I just watch a youtube video it does this.

Thanks for the help :)

Perfectly fine for the GPU. If you're in a game, and that's happening, it might indicate a bottleneck somewhere, but it won't damage anything.

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

What do you think could bottleneck it? its not like its extremely good, nor extremely bad? and thanks for the clarification
