Static pressure fans for case fan

TheMidnightNarwhal

I'm about to get a air 240 and I'm thinking of salvaging one of my SP fans I have on my h100i and place it in the bottom part, right under the GPU. Now is it useless since it's a static pressure fan or I shouldn't bother?

It's not bad because it's a static pressure fan, it's bad necaise he h100i stock fans are loud af :P

But it will work if you put it in there. All fans are designed to move air. Although the temp difference will be small regardless of what fan you put in there

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

All fans provide some amount of static pressure. A static pressure optimized fan's design usually sacrifices a bit of airflow but there's no reason why it would be useless.

the fans on your GPU are static pressure fans as well.

imo the whole "static pressure VS airflow" thing is overrated, since my only airflow fan actually has more static pressure than most of my SP fans, and all of my SP fans make air flow just fine :P

Static-pressure fans, as case-fans in a small case such as the Air 240 could actually be a good thing. I helps moving air through components in a cramped space.

I experienced it myself tho. If I put my hand behind my AF140MM fan I can feel the air flow on my hand far away in my case. As for the rad fan, for my hand to feel being sucked in I need to be real close.

See that's where I'm a bit confused. Isn't it the opposite? If there is nothing in the way shouldn't you get airflow fans to push more air as nothing is blocking so no need to focus on pushing through stuff.

it won't be useless as it will still provide a decent amount of airflow.

was the rad fan on the rad for this? because a rad is pretty high resistance :P

That is correct, if there is zero to none restriction an airflow fan would -in theory- move more air. However, in a cramped/small case with restrictions, a static pressure fan could be better. I don't know the situation in your case so I can't tell you which would be best.

Your hand is not a good tool for measuring airflow.

Alright well I'll go ahead and don't buy more AF fans I'll reuse my static pressure optimized ones, thanks!
