Overclock RAM on an i3?

So to close this, yes. I managed to OC my RAM to 1866Mhz with some relaxed timings and CPU-Z detected the change.

I have an i3 4330 as my CPU and RAM rated to run at 1600Mhz. If possible, I'd like to overclock it higher. However, from what I can tell the 4330 only supports memory speeds up to 1600Mhz as stated here. The spec sheet claims it supports 1333 and 1600Mhz RAM. Does this mean It can only go up to 1600Mhz or can it go higher? If I can't increase the frequency, can I speed up the timings? I'd like to overclock my RAM in any way possible if my CPU supports it. Thanks!

It's going to depend on you motherboard, and if it supports xmp or manual overclocking.

You need a board that support it, you need to be prepared to do 4 runs of memtest 86 which will take HOURS!!! :(

If your motherboard isn't Z97 you can't overclock RAM past 1600 afaik.

 

But you can decrease the memory's timings. Decreasing memory timings will improve performance but decrease stability. The way I went about tweaking timings was to find the tightest configuration that didn't refuse to boot, then stress test for 45 min, take it down one timing at a time until I passed 45 min stress test, then leave AIDA64 overnight (12 hours ish).

No reason to, memory speed doesn't effect performacne in most apps in in programs where its effected its less than 5%.
