How long do SSD's Last

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

depends how much you write to them

for a regular consumer, like a decade

Hi there,

I've got my first SSD up and running in my computer and I was wondering how long they actually last. I think I may have run the disk defragmenter once or twice, but now I've made sure that's turned off but, in terms of years, how long?

I'm using a SanDisk SSD PLUS 240 GB. Anyone have any idea's

Thanks.

Many, many years unless you're writing absurd amounts of data to it.

I have been installing over hundred of gigabytes on it already. Since then I've uninstalled half of that so now not much will be downloaded on the SSD. Anyway, Thanks for letting me know.

Depending on the type (MLC or TLC memory) and capacity, anywhere from 500TB to 2000TB ( http://techreport.com/review/27909/the-ssd-endurance-experiment-theyre-all-dead/3 )

I've had an OS SSD for about two years before I sold the system to someone else and the tool reported about 3-4TB written. So I think the drive will outlast me even at the worst case.
